Integral Vision announces the release of its Industrial Vision Controller (IVC) version 1.1. The IVC is aimed at solving a range of inspection applications by incorporating an intuitive, familiar interface with the latest in high speed processing technology at a price that fits the most discriminating budget. Version 1.1 is available for shipment beginning January 2, 2001.

Leveraging off the evolution of ever increasing processing speeds, IVC promises potential customers a complete hardware and software system that offers continually improving performance for the price. Positioned between "smart sensors" and high-end vision systems, the IVC was developed with the production employee in mind. At the annual AIA business conference held in February 2000, it was noted that the future of machine vision would rely on user-friendly systems, mainly for low-skilled workers. Featuring a familiar Microsoft Windows graphical user interface and no knowledge of Visual Basic or C++ required, vision application development has never been easier.

System Configurations & Pricing
IVC is available in two different configurations based on customer requirements. The IVC Shoebox System features an industrial CPU with passive backplane design for applications in tough manufacturing environments. The IVC Compact System consists of a desktop CPU designed for use in light industrial environments. Both systems come complete with the company's own groundbreaking software installed, incorporating programming tools featured in the popular VisionBlox and Common Vision Blox development packages. Both systems include keyboard and mouse, choice of a monochrome RS-170 CCD or Progressive Scan camera, cables, breakout assemblies and I/O hardware. Each system supports up to four cameras and pricing starts as low as $8,500 (US).

New Software Tools
New tools have been added to the software package since IVC's original release version 1.0.6. These tools include Light Meter, Image Math, Convolution, RS-232 Communications and Math Expression.

  • Light Meter – This tool provides statistical values on a region of interest such as standard deviation, variance and median.
  • Image Math – This tool performs mathematical functions on one or two images such as add image or subtract image. It can be used to look for deviations between two images.
  • Convolution – This tool provides the capability to perform a user defined image filter. Users can enhance an image by outlining light to dark transition areas.
  • RS-232 Communications – This tool generates and sends messages to external devices such as another computer, PLC or motion controller, using the RS-232 port.
  • Math Expression – Allows users to create mathematical expressions containing tool results and constants.

Version 1.1 of IVC also offers the option of writing inspection results to any ODBC compliant database.

IVC's developer interface combines vision tools, program options and I/O control icons into folders to create product inspections. Pass/Fail and numerical results are automatically generated to enable users to track and regulate their production lines.
