Spiral Biotech, Inc.000 is a microprocessor-controlled spiral plater used for bacterial enumeration, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and mutagenicity assays. The plater deposits a liquid sample in a spiral pattern onto the surface of a rotating agar plate, creating a three-log dilution effect. Because this plating action continuously reduces the number of microbes placed along the spiral track, most serial dilutions typically required for plating are eliminated. The standard 50 microliter exponential deposition mode covers the range from 400 to 400,000 cfu/ml on one plate, without dilution.
